The Last Hankie Post

WHAT I HOPE FOR

I hope there is a heaven.
I hope Hankie is there now.
I hope that in his first moment there,
before he even had time to realize
that he was in a new place,
before he even had time to be grateful
that he wasn't blind anymore,
that he wasn't in pain anymore,
I hope that his God came reaching down with both hands
to the tiny parcel of heaven where Hankie was waiting,
and that this God was so beautiful, and shimmered
with such amounts of love and peacefulness and holiness
and so much adoration for the little cat
in front of him, that Hankie knew,
in his awe, that he was home.

Because God's time is not our time and His ways are not our ways, I somehow think it was you already there, who first picked Hankie up in heaven and introduced him to a loving God.

I keep forgetting that time is a bendy thing. I would LOVE to go there and pick him up, Ann. It would be the perfect beginning.

    Thanks for the thought.

I love Ann's idea. I hope that's what Hankie experienced.

I'm sure all of your hopes come true. As someone that just lost my fifteen-year-old Lab who was part of my soul, I understand your pain. Hankie is just fine and you'll see him again.

If we don't see those we love again, what's a heaven for?

Rest in peace, my little friend. I'll see you again. This I know.

Thanks, Gail. I know you understand. Wow...15 is a pretty old age for a Lab, right?

E., I hope Ann is right, too. I can't stop thinking about it. The whole idea of me being right here at the moment, but that that photo is of Hankie looking at me in heaven, as I reach down to get him and introduce him to God. Blows my mind. I love it.

I love you, Scott. Thanks for going through this with me. Thanks for giving Hankie such a dignified, really special burial.

I never had the pleasure of knowing Hankie in person, but I can tell he is a GREAT cat.
He's waiting to give you the kitty head bump at his new home.

    Thanks, p-o,
We're really missing him. Keep expecting him to walk around the corner.
    I love the head bump.
