Guess What Color the Daddy Is
These golden retriever puppies are the new arrivals at the home of my nephew's soon-to-be inlaws.
They are ridiculously cute, no? Really almost unlawfully cute. And how dare that third puppy from the right show off his pink belly, and put him widdle back paws in a sickeningly adorable position like that.
I'm calling the authorities.

When are you going to come over to the Dark, I mean Dog side? I will never have a cat again.

I'd love to have a dog, but cats are my favorite. However, Scott is not interested/willing to get either. It may take a couple years of convincing. I'm still not quite ready, either.
But I sure miss having a pet to hold. Thought about volunteering at the Humane Society, but I tried that once and it broke my heart.
I need to come and meet your happy, bounding doggie.

I can relate to Scott's reticence. It's been almost three years since I said goodbye to Max and two years since I had to relinquish his good cat friend Buddy to catnip heaven. I'm still in that "right now/not yet" period. Also, I found mountain lion tracks in my carport two days ago - so little pets may have to wait a bit...

I want one, too, Laura!
JWebb, I get chills just hearing about the mountain lion tracks.
Scott isn't in a "not yet" period. He just doesn't like pets. It's the only thing about him that is completely incompatible with me. I can hardly believe I married someone who doesn't LOVE animals. But alas, there is no "perfect" mate. At least he doesn't beat me. Much.

A couple of months ago, I was seeing very strange tracks in the snow in the backyard and around the front deck area - looked like rabbits or squirrels or chipmunk "hopping" tracks (with the occasional pack rat/field mouse meanderings). Those have done disappeared, first with bobcat prints and now mountain lion tracks. Many neighborhood cats (and a couple of small dogs) have also gone "missing." Nature - it's what's for dinner...

What about "fostering" Candy?

I seem to have the opposite problem, Prostitutia. My cat Ralph has Feesh Pus wrapped around his little paw pad. He even thinks it's cute when Ralph makes messes--which leaves *me* to play the "mean parent" who actually gets peeved when the cat knocks his litter box over.
So, you're quite right, Candy: there is no perfect mate. But FP's flaws, like Scott's, are few. Now if I can just persuade him to be heterosexual, we'll be golden!
