I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend of twenty years. I love your poem. When I got to
He doesn’t want to leave her
or his new good friend, the one
who will comfort her,
I started to cry a little, and five-year-old O., sitting next to me, could tell I was crying even though I was trying to hide it. "Why are you sad, Mama?" And I had to tell him that the kitty whose pictures he was just admiring died. Not easy, but it's a part of life. But such a hard part.
Take care.

I know how much you loved Hankie:((We miss our furry friends so much when they leave us.

Thanks, E.
Sorry O. had to hear sad stuff.
I swear Hankie waited until I was firmly rooted in a household with Scott before he would give in to old age.

I know you understand, Carin. I remember how you pulled your doggie around on the rug.

I love this picture, too; I have been looking forward to it all day. Do you think you love differently now, having loved Hankie?

Jbelle, I've been thinking about that a lot. I will respond soon.
Pixie, I sure hope he felt that way. What a great sentiment. Thanks.

Even when blind, they see right through us, don't they? Yet their love is unconditional all the same...
Truth unvarnished.

JWebb, they do see right through us. To the core.
This was a couple years ago, before Hankie was blind. His eyes stayed dilated like that for about 12 years. No apparent reason.
